We’re Ga-ga for Celluma
If you have an IG account it would be hard to ignore LED Light Therapy. The technology has been around for sometime, but it being available outside to consumers is new. After a lot of research, followed by personal experiences, we are excited to now offer LED Light Therapy (aka: Celluma) as a stand alone, or add-on service.
From aging / acne / excema and hair loss, to joint pain and wound healing— how can Celluma benefit you and your wellness goals? Let’s get smarter!
Pro-Aging
While we can’t literally turn back the hands of time, there are steps we can take now to improve and maintain our best appearance, slow down the signs of aging, and give ourselves a bit more longevity.
When it comes to aging, a significant factor that leads to wrinkles, fine lines, and joint pain is due to inadequate collagen levels. Collagen is the main structural protein found in your skin and other connective tissue. Collagen literally holds our bodies together. An easy way to remember what collagen does is to look at the Greek prefix ‘kolla’ which means glue.
Increased fibroblast proliferation is just one benefit of LED red light therapy. Fibroblasts make collagen fibers, so it stands to reason that the more, and healthier, fibroblasts we have in the skin, the more and better collagen fibers are made. And as we all know, collagen synthesis and maintenance is the bedrock of anti-aging. Collagen is a key to longevity.
Healthy collagen levels are what give us a glowing complexion, firm skin, strong nails, dense bones, and healthy hair. It is also essential in keeping muscles, joints, and tendons in healthy working order. Simply put, the more our bodies produce collagen, the better we’ll look and feel as we age and attempt to delay tissue and cell degeneration.
Proven by research, the red and near-infrared wavelengths utilized in the Celluma LED light therapy enhances your body's natural ability to generate collagen and elastin by activating the fibroblast cells. The synergistic effect is that your body is optimized to heal itself.
Uniform delivery of the light energy is crucial to successful energy absorption by the cells. For this reason, we chose Celluma. Our Celluma devices conform closely to the area of treatment resulting in the unmatched ability to deliver the optimal amount of restorative light energy in each session.
Clients who use Celluma LED light therapy devices begin seeing:
- Skin rejuvenation and the reduction of wrinkles and fine lines
- Accelerated healing of chronic wounds.
- General pain reduction including muscle, joint and arthritic pains.
Celluma’s anti-aging LED therapy is designed to truly change the way we rejuvenate and recover. We no longer need to rely solely on medications, injections, or surgery now that we have the technology to give our bodies the boost to heal more naturally.
Hair Loss
Hair loss can be temporary or permanent. It can be heredity, the result of medical conditions, or hormonal changes. It is generally considered a normal part of aging and affects both men and women alike.
Male pattern baldness, also known as androgenetic alopecia (AGA), accounts for 95% of hair loss in men. However, hair loss is not a strictly male health concern. In fact, women make up a significant percentage of those who suffer from hair loss: 40%.
Male or female: hair loss is typically related to one or more of the following factors:
- Family history (heredity)
- Hormonal changes and medical conditions
- Medications and supplements
- Radiation therapy to the head
- A very stressful event
- Hairstyles and treatments
Light therapy for hair can be an effective stand-alone therapy or adjunctive therapy to medication and topical prescriptions for optimal hair regrowth.
Several studies have examined and proven the use of red light therapy for hair regrowth, including how it positively impacts the scalp and hair follicles. Additionally, Celluma LED light therapy compliments currently existing treatments and procedures (drugs, PRP, stem cells, transplant surgery) to enhance an individual’s outcome for maximizing hair growth.
Clients who use Celluma LED light therapy devices begin seeing:
- Reversal of hair loss
- Prevention of further hair loss
- Improvement in scalp conditions such as psoriasis, dandruff, etc.
- Balanced scalp oil production
Celluma treatments offer both women and men a non-invasive, non-toxic solution to many forms of hair & scalp concerns, but not ALL. Ask us if your case is a good fit for Celluma.
Acne
Although acne is often considered a “teenage issue,” it can occur to any person at any age for a wide array of reasons.
Although acne is typically thought to only affect teenagers and people in their early 20s, acne is actually very common in adults, as well.
Acne presents itself in many ways
- Whiteheads
- Blackheads
- Pimples
- Cysts
All are common forms of acne, and each type can require a different approach for treatment. But Celluma LED light therapy addresses them all.
Acne develops when an abundance of dead skin cells and a naturally-produced oil called sebum plug tiny hair follicles, or pores. As sebum production continues to build under the plug in the skin’s surface, it becomes infected with C. acne bacteria, causing swelling, redness, and inflammation.
If you suffer from acne, it’s more than likely you’ve tried your fair share of treatments. And maybe you’ve heard about LED blue light therapy for acne, a proven acne treatment— especially for people who have tried other acne treatments but still aren’t seeing the results they want.
Celluma LED light therapy works by killing acne-causing bacteria at the source, deep beneath the skin’s surface.
Blue LED light, especially in combination with red light therapy, emits specific, clinically-proven wavelengths of light to trigger an all-natural effect in human tissue, killing acne-causing bacteria, decreasing inflammation, and improving skin tone, texture, and clarity from the inside out.
Celluma’s blue and red wavelengths kill the bacteria that causes breakouts, while reducing the inflammation, pimples and redness associated with acne. Of course, outcomes vary depending on severity of the acne condition and compliance to recommended acne protocols, but on average, a reduction in lesions and overall improvement in skin appearance is often seen in only a matter of weeks. And unlike other LED devices available on the market, Celluma is flexible and conforms closely to the treatment area for optimal efficacy.
Pain Management
Whether you suffer from arthritis pain, acute or chronic back pain, an ankle/muscle strain, or a sports injury, red light therapy can help to reduce inflammation and bring much needed pain relief.
Poor circulation and the lack of oxygen and other essential molecules (i.e., glucose, Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP)) in blood vessels can cause pain or a lack of sensation. Light energy stimulates the release of nitric oxide, causing blood vessels to increase in diameter and allowing more blood flow, oxygen, and other important factors to be delivered. This increase in oxygen and nutrients, along with stimulation of the light energy emitted from Celluma, increases ATP production, which activates pain relieving pathways. This decreases pain and inflammation and increases tissue regeneration in the localized area.
Rather than simply masking pain, Celluma red/near-infrared light therapy works differently to treat the underlying condition, enhancing tissue repair and performance, and allowing your body to perform at an optimal level of health and wellness. Celluma is a natural method of healing your body from the inside out.
Pain relief can be found in a series of 30-minute, non-invasive Celluma treatments, Each session requires no recovery time, and is suitable for all skin types.
Wound Treatment
In addition to fighting inflammation to reduce pain, killing acne bacteria, and boosting collagen production the benefits of LED red light therapy can be extended to the healing of dermal wounds.
Celluma Low level-light therapy has been shown to reduce discomfort levels and enhancing overall outcomes. It is ideally suited following any ablative procedure, as well as pre and post-surgery for the following reasons:
- Phototherapy has been shown to accelerate tissue repair, decrease wound size, accelerate the resolution of erythema, accelerate wound closure and prevent dehiscence.
- Phototherapy prior to surgery may reduce the incidence of hypertrophic scars and keloids .
- Ongoing post-surgery photo-rejunvenation²(activation of fibroblasts to produce collagen and elastin, stimulation of keratinocytes which produce keratin to provide structural strength to the skin).
- Post inflammatory hyperpigmentation prevention.
- Activation of mast, macrophage and neutrophil cells can decrease inflammation and protect against infection.
- Phototherapy is anti-bacterial. The presence of C-acne bacteria can lead to post-operative infections, particularly in shoulder surgery. Using professional grade LED red light therapy prior to surgery can decrease the presence of this bacteria.
The health benefits to using LED red and near-infrared light therapy have been outlined above: it has been proven to decrease inflammation, increase blood flow and oxygen to tissue, and overall give our cells the boost of energy they need to perform more optimally.
