Stay Sexy and Don't Get Sunburned

Sun-kissed bliss, something that many of us are clamoring for in spring and summer. The glow that an afternoon in the sun can give is unmatched.

The sun can be a gift to our moods, our bodies, and our mental health.

However, proceed with caution and moderation (as with most things). A suntan with care is the best kind. Below are some of our favorite tips for connecting in with that solar energy, when the seasons shift.

Don’t let the sun’s rays catch you on your heels!

Jelena loves using carefully crafted Sunscreens

Jelena recommends incorporating sunscreen into your skincare regimen. This sun care can look a little different than what you pack for a day at the beach.

Sunscreen can be in your make-up or skin care.

One of our favorite Boketto sunscreens is from Marie Veronique. This blend is broad-spectrum, non-nano, zinc oxide sun protection (say that ten times fast!).

Jelena also loves Keys Solar Rx sunscreen.

As daily protection, Solar Rx is designed to offer the maximum physical protection from UVA and SPF 30 for UVB burning rays without using a chemical sunscreen.

(Pro Tip: It is important to note that 90% of all visible skin aging comes from UVA).

Solar Rx is both a moisturizer and sunblock.

By adding sun care to your daily ritual of care, you’re inviting in the sun in a safe way!

If you get burned, it happens to the best of us. We love using Sommer from Noshaba Apothecary for a little bit of anti-inflammation and to care for skin that’s had just a bit too much brightness.

Jennifer Delights Foods Rich in Nutrients, Vitamins, and Antioxidants

Diet can play a huge role in sun-kissed delight. When your body is stocked up with the right nutrients, you're better able to defend against burns. When antioxidant-rich blueberries or tomatoes and watermelon just aren’t enough, you might consider adding a little extra dietary support before you head out into the sun.

Reach for Vitamin D from Quicksilver. Vitamin D may be one of the most critical nutrients for overall health. Vitamin D allows our body to efficiently absorb calcium and can contribute to healthy bones. It helps with normal immune function and can contribute to a balanced mood.

Cod Liver Oil is another wonderful avenue for full-on body support via vitamins.

Rosita Extra Virgin Cod Liver Oil soft gels and liquid oil have a naturally rich and rare nutrient profile that lends itself to myriad health benefits:

Vitamin A: It has true vitamin A in retinol form, which means the body can easily absorb and use it (unlike the vitamin A found in plants as beta-carotene). Vitamin A is involved in immune function, vision, reproduction, and cellular communication.

Vitamin D: Rosita’s vitamin A also works hand-in-hand with its vitamin D, which helps the body absorb calcium to support bone health.

Omega fatty acids: Rosita’s full spectrum of fatty acids (including omega-3 EPA and DHA) are known for reducing inflammation and preserving brain health.

Kate works with herbs that refresh and soothe

Plants can be a wonderful way to support your sun-soaked bod after a day of sunshine and not just internally. For after you're out in the sun, Aloe may be a wonderful way to soothe your skin. Aloe by Monastery Made is ultra-light but gives skin a serious boost in hydration thanks to two molecular weights of hyaluronic acid (famed for holding 1000x its weight in water).

Even better, the hyaluronic acid is suspended in a base of soothing, moisturizing aloe. Lavender soothes skin and instantly relaxes the senses for an aromatherapeutic experience.

For sitting poolside, try sipping on some Rose Water. We love this pure, organic rose water splashed into just a little bit of seltzer. Rose is a hydrating high vibe plant.

You can count on Rose to promote healthy digestion, detoxify, balance, improve mood, and support well-being.
