Stay Sexy… And Don't Get Sunburned
Sun-kissed bliss, something that many of us are clamoring for in spring and summer. The glow that an afternoon in the sun can give is unmatched.
The sun can be a gift to our moods, our bodies, and our mental health. But don’t let the sun’s rays catch you on your heels! Rather, proceed with caution and moderation (as with most things). A suntan with care is the best kind of sun-fun.
We asked a few on Team Boketto to share their favorite tips & tools for connecting in with that solar energy— responsibility. Read on!
Jelena Loves Carefully Crafted Sunscreens
Jelena recommends incorporating sunscreen into your skincare regimen. This sun care can look a little different than what you pack for a day at the beach.
Sunscreen can be in your make-up or skin care.
Our favorite skincare-like sunscreens are Marie Veronique’s broad-spectrum, non-nano, zinc oxide sun protection (say that ten times fast!) and Le Prunier Plumscreen that uses use Non-Nano Zinc Oxide so it stays on the skin’s surface. Again, both act as skincare AND sun protection.
Jelena also loves Tizo Mineral Sunscreen for her body, especially her arms— and on her face for days she's out in the field riding her bike, or on the slopes in the wintertime. Tizo is designed to offer the maximum physical protection from UVA and SPF 30 for UVB burning rays without using a chemical sunscreen.
(Pro Tip: It is important to note that 90% of all visible skin aging comes from UVA).
AND… If you get burned, it happens to the best of us. We love using Nucifera The Balm for a little bit of anti-inflammation and to care for skin that’s had just a bit too much brightness.
Heather Delights in Foods Rich in Nutrients, Vitamins, and Antioxidants
Diet can play a huge role in sun-kissed delight. When your body is stocked up with the right nutrients, you're better able to defend against burns. When antioxidant-rich blueberries or tomatoes and watermelon just aren’t enough, you might consider adding a little extra dietary support before you head out into the sun.
Reach for Vitamin D3 K2 from Cymbiotika. Vitamin D may be one of the most critical nutrients for overall health. Vitamin D allows our body to efficiently absorb calcium and can contribute to healthy bones. It helps with normal immune function and can contribute to a balanced mood.
Cod Liver Oil is another wonderful avenue for full-on body support via vitamins.
Rosita Extra Virgin Cod Liver Oil soft gels and liquid oil have a naturally rich and rare nutrient profile that lends itself to myriad health benefits:
- Vitamin A It has true vitamin A in retinol form, which means the body can easily absorb and use it (unlike the vitamin A found in plants as beta-carotene). Vitamin A is involved in immune function, vision, reproduction, and cellular communication
- Vitamin D Rosita’s vitamin A also works hand-in-hand with its vitamin D, which helps the body absorb calcium to support bone health
- Omega fatty acids Rosita’s full spectrum of fatty acids (including omega-3 EPA and DHA) are known for reducing inflammation and preserving brain health

Plants can be a wonderful way to support your sun-soaked bod after a day of sunshine and not just internally. For after you're out in the sun, we love any- and everything rose.
Living Libations Rose Glow Crème is a daydream of a moisturizer that sinks gracefully into your complexion. Rose has tons of anti-inflammatory benefits, which can help reduce the appearance of redness on the skin— as well as soothe irritated (sun-kissed? burned?) skin, as well. Rose Otto, found in Living Libations Rose Best Skin Ever apart from being great for anti-aging, full of antioxidants and fatty acids it's a 3-in1 product beneficial for soothing skin inflammation.
For sitting poolside, try sipping on some rose-infused water. We love this pure, organic Bulgarian Rose Water splashed into just a little bit of seltzer. Rose is a hydrating high vibe plant.
You can also count on rose to promote healthy digestion, detoxification, improve mood, and support overall well-being.
