Plug In, Power Through and Bounce Back… Better

Jelena Nickolajevic’s not just a clinician and Founder of Boketto—she’s also an athlete. From morning walks with the dogs on the James to weekend rides in Pisgah National Forest, movement is a core part of how she lives, recharges, and builds resilience for the long haul. She’s constantly refining what it means to fuel, recover, and stay in rhythm. Today, she shares a few of the essentials that help her plug in, power through, and bounce back, better—on the bike and beyond.

Plugging In

“Plugging in” is about giving your system the quick, steady support it needs to perform without burning out. My current favorites? Fruhling Superfood Snack Mix balanced with protein, fat, and fiber to keep blood sugar steady. Unlike most coffee roasts, ZenBunni Biodynamic Coffee supplies gentle, focused energy without the jitters or crash. Midday,  Laka Matcha Drip—a portable antioxidant energy gel—provides a clean boost for both performance and mood. And finally, since I never know where the day will take me, Cymbiotika Liposomal Super Greens with Chlorophyll is a convenient way to boost my daily nutrition. Small moves = big difference.

Recovery Mode

Post-workout, recovery isn’t just about feeling better—it’s about giving your body the tools to rebuild, replenish, and adapt. I lean on a few key supports here, too. Adapt Naturals Omega+ is my go-to for systemic inflammation and repair (more about them below), while Rasananda Ayurveda MELT Muscle Balm is warming relief for sore spots and tension. A soak with Ancient Minerals Magnesium Flakes is both restorative and calming, especially when paired with Quinton Hypertonic, a seawater-based mineral supplement that helps replenish electrolytes. I add Cymbiotika Creatine + to a smoothie for muscular recovery and strength support, and Integrative Therapeutics Magnesium Glycinate supports my #1 tool: sleep, which allows the body and nervous system to repair and restore.

Why OMEGA 3
In addition to what you can find on the shelves at Boketto, I often employ other potent tools for well-being. These items are found on my shelves at home and recommended in my Acupuncture and Functional Medicine treatments. Adapt Naturals is a biggie. Their supplements are meticulously crafted by Chris Kresser, a globally respected Functional Medicine practitioner with over 15 years of clinical experience. And when it comes to post-workout recovery, I can’t say enough good things about their Bioavailable Omega+. It’s not only beneficial for athletes, but for really anyone:
  • Rejuvenates mind & body with the most bioavailable form of Curcumin on the market
  • Fine-tunes metabolic and cardiovascular function
  • Meets your EPA and DHA needs with the purest and freshest fish oil available
  • Strengthens and balances immune response
  • Supports supple muscles and joints and youthful skin, hair & nails
  • Improves cognitive function and mood
  • AND! Reduces post-exercise inflammation
