We sat down *virtually* with Jenn Tardif aromatherapist, meditation teacher and founder of 3rd Ritual to discuss slowing down, reverence and the alchemy of ritual.
Tell us a little bit about yourself! What do you love to do?
I'm a mother, writer, aromatherapist, meditation teacher, and the founder of the mindful collective 3rd Ritual. I love learning and teaching and trying to uncover meaning in the otherwise mundane.
Can you speak a little bit about your work with 3rd Ritual?
Sure! Everything we create from our botanical blends to our meditation tools are founded on the notion that when you move half as fast, you notice twice as much. Our offering is equal parts tools and techniques rooted in the belief that simple rituals inspire sacred experiences.
What does the word ritual mean to you? What rituals do you practice in your own life?
Ritual requires reverence, repetition, and formality. Rituals are a series of small acts that make the invisible visible. Anything counts so long as it's alchemical, as in there's a clear shift between the beginning, middle, and end of your practice. Some of my personal rituals include aromatherapy as an antidote to stress, pranayama as a portal back to presence, and mindful movement as a means to ground.
If you could have tea or take a Boketto moment (a moment of daydreaming and of rest) with any person, dead or alive, who would it be? What kind of tea would you have?
I'd share a cup of Irish breakfast tea with milk and honey with my mom.
What does a moment of rest, recharging, or nourishment look like for you?
Being in nature, playing with my daughter, unplugging from technology, getting a full night's sleep.
What’s something you want people to know about you that I wouldn't think to ask?
This has nothing to do with me, but I desperately want anyone who's suffering with mental health or otherwise to know that they're not alone. To know that it gets better and that after winter will come spring.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I was born on March 17... that's all I know!
